"It's not someone who's seen the light. It's a cold and a broken Hallelujah." -- Leonard Cohen
Losing It
Years and years ago I asked some of the Dorion Fellowship ladies to pray for me during the summer at Dorion Bible Camp. I used to get really, really upset when I would misplace something (which can easily happen in a camp or other community setting because we put our stuff down in so many places and sometimes other people -- with no malice -- move it.)
Often this was last thing at night in my cabin Lamont and I felt I couldn't get to bed until I found it. So I might go over to the office or the chapel to look again and again and lose a lot of sleep.
Anyway, I noticed, once these ladies were praying, that there was a marked improvement both in my ability to find things and also not to get so distracted by it. Therefore, in recent years I tended to sleep better as well.
The other day here at home I could not find my Little Green Book (Every penny of expenses and income). I do write most of this info down in my diary too (in case I do lose this book) but still having the green book makes my budgetting assessment far easier. I was very upset about this.
I looked a bunch of places and talked to myself (as I do) about how disastrous this was. After much too long, while sitting here I remembered to ask God to help me find it. For some reason in desperation I actually got on the floor and bowed my head to the floor by my filing cabinet. While down there I thought to pull open the bottom drawer and well, you can finish the story....
