My Dad died last night (that is 0100hrs this morning). My Mum and I were in the room (226 at the TBRHSC). He had been unconscious for the last day, breathing noisily and painfully. They gave him morphine for that. His breathing slowed down and my Mum and I were dozing in the room. Then she noticed that his breathing had stopped. We called the nurse and went to his side and he did take a few more very, very shallow breaths. But after a while he stopped completely and the nurse checked his heart.
