Pranks: Clarification
I want to make it very clear that it was NOT Becky Wright who told me that I was just plain wrong when I once objected to a particular disturbing prank and that playing pranks are a way to make friends. You might get that impression from my post a while back on pranks, but that was not the case.
Secondly, in reality Becky attended Camp Gitchigomee only twice. However, when she arrived at Dorion Bible Camp, it just seemed to me that she was a Camp G person (although she became very enthusiastic about Dorion quickly, moving on even to becoming "Becky the Board Member". And though I'd prefer to think of her without that label, it's pretty hard for me not to). So the "Big Trade" was just a little joke I made with Kevin K at Camp G this summer (and hockey-oriented readers).
Actually, back a number of years ago there was a time when Dorion had so many staff that we were able to lend some for a week to Camp G. That's the closest to an actual "Big Trade" that I'm aware of.
As well, when Elaine was the Ontario Camping Association rep she organized co-operative events between camps in this area. Co-operation and trades between area camps on that scale hasn't really occured (to my knowledge) since then, although Round Lake and Camp G did share waterfront staff a bit this summer. It would be nice to revive the ThBay area camping association again, even if informally.
